The use of black and white here gives a clear distinction between her hair and the shirt she's wearing, giving a graduation between the two. The dark make-up give a strong contrast with the lighter skin. The lighting is good, as to emphasing the bone structure of her shoulders and cheeck bones, but also burn out the background, giving no distraction from her face. This is a very sexual image, given emphasis by the juxtaposition provided by the use of black and white.
